Welcome to Miller Capital

From our beginning, we wanted to operate our firm within a culture of partnership on behalf of our clients.

We know that our clients must always trust us.

We aim to provide our clients with the same information we would appreciate if we were the client:

  • Clear Logic – Clients should know what we believe broadly, and for them particularly.
  • Experience It – Clients should know what they own and why. It is our duty to keep them informed so they can plan confidently and ask effective questions.

Customized Investment Services

Our clients range from those requesting investment management and/or consulting over a few accounts to those requesting our services for dozens of accounts and outside managers.

We are capable of serving virtually any client, regardless of the simplicity or complexity of their investment needs.

Research Approach

At the foundation of our investment services is our commitment to research which we call “Inside Out & Top Down”.

This includes company and industry research (inside) that is informative in understanding larger investment trends (out).

We also spend substantial time analyzing global economic and political developments (top) which impact specific investment decisions (down). We believe our approach is best for our clients.

Investment Choices

We offer investment management, investment consulting, or a combination of both services.

  • With management, clients request us to design and implement investment decisions.
  • With consulting, clients retain control to implement their own investment decisions after receiving our analysis and recommendations.
  • With both offerings, investors can receive consolidated reporting including performance.

Client Focus

At Miller Capital we focus on serving private clients; individuals, families, private companies, non-profit organizations, and trustees (individual and corporate) of private trusts.

We believe our focus on private clients leads to better service. The diversity and quality of our clients is a clear strength of our firm.

Our Team

Mark A. Miller, JD, CFA

Mark is President of Miller Capital, an independent Registered Investment Advisor. Mark is responsible for leading the firm’s investment research, investment strategy design, client services and business operations. Mark also serves as lead advisor to firm clients.

Prior to forming Miller Capital, Mark was a member of the Private Management Group at Munder Capital Management. At that time, this investment firm managed nearly $53 billion in assets. The Private Management Group focused on investing for high net worth individuals, foundations and endowments.

Upon graduating from Valparaiso University School of Law, Mark worked as an attorney with the law firm Berry Moorman, P.C. in Detroit. At Berry Moorman, Mark focused his practice in estate planning, tax, corporate law, and trust and estate administration. Mark later joined the law firm of Heritier Nance in Troy, Michigan, where he expanded his practice to financial and estate planning for high net worth clients and corporate mergers and acquisitions.

Troy H. Williams, CFA

Troy is an Investment Analyst at Miller Capital, an independent Registered Investment Advisor. He contributes to investment research, portfolio strategy development and implementation, client services, and business operations. His work supports the delivery of customized client solutions.

Before joining Miller Capital, Troy spent over four years at Stout in its Valuation Advisory practice. While at Stout, he advised both publicly traded and privately owned companies on business enterprise and equity valuations, as well as the valuation of various intangible assets (i.e., trademark/trade names, developed technology, etc.) utilizing forms of income, market, and cost approaches. He has extensive expertise across a broad range of industries including manufacturing, distribution, retail, transportation, restaurants, financial services, technology, and media and entertainment. Troy holds dual bachelor’s degrees in Finance and Accounting, with a minor in Economics, from Wayne State University.
